After walking through Old Town, my girlfriend and I came across Miguel's Cocina for lunch. Initially, it was pretty empty inside the restaurant as well as outside but nonetheless we still walked in. Our waitress was very kind and attentive from start to finish.
Our waitress served us complimentary chips and salsa to start off with. Both my girlfriend and I said the tortilla chips were okay and both the salsa and queso was watered down and bland. However, our main entrees made up for it.
I ordered Miguel's trio burritos. One with carne asada, one with shrimp, one with just shredded chicken along with beans and rice. The carne asada was okay, it was tender and not over cooked. Both the shrimp and chicken burritos were good and the beans tasted fresh with the cheese. I would say the rice was okay too, don't really know how to describe rice but it was okay. I would order this meal again. My girlfriend had the carne asada burrito entree and she enjoyed it. The carne asada was tender and it was flavorful. Overall, solid 4 stars for this restaurant.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 9, 2024
I want this place to be a 4 star, but man it's just missing the cut for a place I'd choose to eat at. Keep in mind I paid $21.82 after tax and gratuity for the enchiladas.
There was a total oil slick bleeding everywhere, and while the portion is big, rice and beans cost almost nothing and they weren't very special here. So the dish was a bit of a letdown at this price, but that wasn't all. The plate was super hot coming out and I got 0 warning, thus I immediately burned my finger trying to center the plate in front of me. Fair enough that the waitress was busy since we had a big group, but no notice and no apology is no good.
It's a shame because the restaurant is really beautiful and well-decorated. Won't be trying to come back here anytime soon, but the mango margaritas look fantastic so grab one of those with chamoy if you decide to come here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lola T.Sarasota, FL22892344Mar 23, 2024

Peter gave the BEST service today. It was our first time at this location and it is now our favorite. He gave great recommendations for food and drink! Everything was delicious! We ordered from the specialty and HH menus. Not pictured was the Maui Maui Taco plate with rice/beans and the flautas. Cooked to perfection. The cheese sauce with chips to start is off with were so good! I have to remember to save room for dessert next time.
We really liked that it was inside and outside as the patio was very inviting! We opted to sit inside as it was chilly today. Music inside was a decent volume. I hope to go back soon!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 179702250Apr 6, 20241 check-in
I was walking around Old Town, and found myself getting hangry, so stopped in for a snack. I I sat at the bar and had a margarita, chips and salsa, and the "Tres Amigos" tacos. The bartender was friendly and very fast, and the food came quickly too. I really only needed the chips, but the tacos were good, and interesting, and the Marg was sweet and tasty. The bartender tried to warn me about the chipotle sauce on the carnitas taco, but it wasn't that hot - I expect they get a lot of tourists.

I really like this Miguel's location. The food and service are really good, and it's conveniently located in great spot in Old Town San Diego. It's walking distance from all the stores and museums but just a bit further away from the crowds.
The chips and salsa are great here, and the enchiladas are good too. We always have our dog, and we're able to eat on the patio with him. I love coming here after a visit to the Old Town shops and all the historical spots in town. Service is usually great here as well. They always bring out our waters and chips and salsa the moment we are seated.
This is a wonderful place to grab some lunch and relax after a long day of shopping. The food is consistently good, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The beautiful patio is a lovely bonus!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 5Oh no 0Business owner information

Went to get some food to go, I got a mango chamoy margarita & a combination fajita plate. For the meats I got steak, shrimp, & this thick meat that looked like hefty pieces of bacon. The meats were very well seasoned, the steak was my favorite. Plate came w/ rice, beans, tortilla shells, guacamole, and pico de galo on the side. Everything was packaged nice and neat individually because it was to go. A bit of a wait for the food. Attentive waiter. Definitely recommend.

Found this little gem off yelp while in old town. Glad there was no wait coming in afternoon on a Saturday. Delicious little lunch spot that is toward the end of the block of restaurants. They offered indoor and outdoor seating but we chose indoor because it was about to rain outside when we were in town. Staff is super friendly and the food was off the chain delicious. There is option of choosing French fries in lieu of the beans and rice with your order to appeal to the tourist who pass by, but I opted for authentic and enjoyed my red rice. The skirt steak was juicy and tender. Everything had a little bit of a kick i.e salsa and queso dip that came with our chips before getting our order. My bf ordered the tacos of the month, I had the skirt steak Torta, son ordered the portobello fajitas, bf's daughter had the kid's meal chicken tenders and friend got the chimichangas. The fajitas came out sizzling. Son wanted my red rice because his rice was plain but server informed us my red rice is cooked with chicken broth, so he had to pass. Would definitely recommend. Que Sabrosa!
