This non-competitive 25-mile ride will start at 7 a.m. at Embarcadero Marina Park South on Harbor Drive in San Diego and travel over the 2.1-mile bridge and along the expanded and upgraded Bayshore Bikeway.
The relaxed ride, open to riders 14 years and older and recommended for all cycling abilities, will meander along bayside paths and down dedicated bike lanes through the quiet streets of Coronado, Imperial Beach, Chula Vista and National City before concluding with post-ride festivities at Embarcadero Marina Park. Most riders can expect to complete the mostly flat course in two hours.
In what organizers hope will become “an annual San Diego tradition to promote fun and safe bicycling,” this event offers participants the only opportunity to cross the bridge on bike and then coast along some of the county’s most breath-taking shoreline.”
Registration is $50, including a commemorative T-shirt, and can be completed online at www.bikethebay.net. Mail-in forms can be obtained by calling 619-269-6873.
