It was a nice place. Very basic, but it's all about location.
We tried to book again this summer June 2023. Their phones didn't work and they never responded to emails... :(Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Crystal B.Tempe, AZ885723Jun 23, 2022
Love this little hidden gem. Doesn't look like much from the outside but the staff is amazing and the rooms are very clean and the beds are so comfortable. Staff really makes sure that your stay is everything that you expect. Perfect location and hotel has free bikes and a fire pit that just really is perfect for the island atmosphere. Will definitely be back, as a matter of face I have a reservation next month.

First of all- all the good reviews of this place are fake and paid.
If you not believe me, ask somebody to make a video review of all rooms on the first floor.
Some of them has no windows which is violation of a building and fire code.
Instead of windows, this hotel rooms use.... doors!!!
And this is not joke, I can bet right now for 5000$ it's true.
Villa Capri by the Sea shows pictures with swimming pool, but it's a fake, photoshop.
I placed a real picture from a Google, shows that this building has no swimming pool.
I have a conversation with it's manager who said he will call police if I continue to demand my money back. I suggest him to call police and discussed our issue farther, because he reject to provide a written proof of refund.
He said "you harassed me".
I answered "demanding you a written proof of refund cannot be considered as harassment", then we called to police and Joachim agreed to send me this letter.
"Hello!
We're sorry that an apparent typo on the site caused you to believe you were booking a 2000 Ft² space but that is incorrect. We are happy to refund you for your stay and waive cancelation fees. All requests for refunds, receipts etc need to be handled via Booking.com. Thank you for choosing the Villa Capri"
That is so funny how this claustrophobic style cemetery can pump rating up to 8.6 on Booking.com
Same as 2100 ft2 size, (in reality no more 150ft2)
This 8.6 booking.com rating shows how much money the owner spent for paid reviews.
This guy tell one lies after another.
He is still not correct the wrong information on booking.com,
His rooms is still listed as 2149 ft2.
If this guy will be more patient and wait the police to arrive at the scene, it will be enough to show to police his listing with more than 2000 square ft for 150ft2 room, to make police angry and making questions why he is so insane to call the police after committed a fraud. He is lie I was rude with his receptionist, I asked her to call the owner, because I understand she is not the owner and she looks so pile and poor, like she is working for food and place to live with no salary.
Today I informed booking.com of misinformation this Joachim send to their listings.
It was me who called the police. Not the owner. He lies. He always lies. I don't tell anything else to receptionist, but only connect me to the manager or owner. No receptionist, not the owner agrees to provide a letter with money back guarantees, before we called to police. When they see we called to police and tell all the situation in details, demanding police to arrive at the scene, only this makes VILLA CAPRI BY THE SEA to issued a letter with a proof of refund. Two letters issued prior to this, said that their booking is non-refundable. I can say, the owner tell only one truth in his answer here. He said money weren't charged yet. As we found later, the card issued company didn't charge our card, but it was a receptionist, who said our card is charged already, so we need to accept that terrible room, because if we booked it, we can't makes a refund.
Reading other people's reviews, I can say, that some services exist in a past, like a free bike rental and a swimming pool. People said, if those services exist before and not now, description of a property must be updated. Now I see, the owner, after all this long conversation, agrees to correct a square feet's on booking.com. Now it shows 200 square feet. I still doubt that room he shows in hotel has even 200ft2.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello!
We're terribly sorry about the mix up, when the profile was originally created the Queen Room was listed as 200 square meters rather than 200 square feet and has since been updated. When this was brought to our attention we offered an apology and to waive any cancellation fees but instructed you and your friend Felix K. that you would need to contact Booking.com for any receipts etc as they were the service you used to book with us.
You then demanded the front desk associate, a small 20 year old girl, give you a handwritten letter guaranteeing that you would receive a refund. When she told you she was unable to do so, Felix became irate and aggressive to the point where she hid in the office and called me, the Innkeeper. You refused to leave the property until we informed you of our intent to contact the Coronado Police Department. And upon further investigation payment was never even pulled for the room to begin with so you didn't even require the refund you were threatening the front desk associate over.
We haven't paid for any reviews on Yelp and the pictures with a pool are old pictures from years ago when the property indeed had a pool. The symbol on the neon sign for the property is a diving lady. We still offer complimentary bikes for use to our guests, they are sitting in the courtyard as I type this response.
We're sorry for the mix up, but the behavior towards our front desk associate is inexcusable and will be rectified with the service you used to book. Either way, thank you for choosing the Villa Capri - 390269157Nov 18, 2018
When my boyfriend decided that his second half marathon was going to be in Coronado I started combing the Internet for unique places to stay. While the Del was an obvious chose it was too expensive, but Villa Capri by the Sea (and by the Hotel Del) was the best option for someone looking to be in the center of it all without the hefty price tag. I did my pricing research online and then booked directly as the Villa was able to match the price I had found.
I am very into mid-century architecture and found the decor inside our queen suite just charming! I was so impressed with the cleanliness of our suite upon our after-hours check-in (the office closes at 9 and offers a secure alternative for a late check-in). It's tough to prove cleanliness when the building and decor are representing the early 1950's, but throughout our stay I was overly impressed with the service to our suite each morning. Every night we returned to a tightly made bed, fresh towels, restocked toiletries, and even the water glasses had been clean and tucked away in the cabinets of the full size kitchen. So CLEAN!
The stay was so peaceful (bonus girlfriend points since my man didn't have to worry about anything before his big race)! There are four cruiser bicycles available to guests (just sign the waiver in the office). The patio with a gas fire pit was a lovely way to end the day and wind down for the night. I will say this... I am very used to creaks and cracks that happen in an old building as I live in a house that is nearly 100 years old. I am also used the constant flow of street traffic. If you are sensitive to noises then be aware that a stay at the Villa will include the occasional sound the building settling and the busy traffic on Orange Ave. So if you're fine with those minor sounds it'll be pleasant.
I would definitely stay at the Villa Capri again! I am actually really excited to visit Coronado again! The cleanliness and vintage flair and the price just can't be beat!Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Business owner information

This place is not only in the best location, it is right across from the historic Hotel Del Coronado. If you are looking for a nice, clean and affordable place to stay, look no further. Parking is $15, but there are a lot of street parking and meter parking available as well. They also offer no contact check-in and check-out. My fiancé is in the Military, Joaquin not only gave us a great price but he also gave us a room upgrade! I recommend this hotel.

SPECTACULAR STAY!!! From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, everything about this motel has made our stay on Coronado Beach fantastic and memorable. The location couldn't be better, literally a five minute walk (or less) to the beach, as well as multiple shops and restaurants.
We were greeted by Joaquin, the resident manager, who is one of the best hotel managers it has been my privilege to meet. Personable and professional, he is wholly invested in the property and each and every guest. He often goes out of his way to make sure guests feel comfortable and welcome.
I booked a Queen Suite (pics attached) which was more than enough room for four people (although only two of us stayed in the room). It was basically a one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and dining nook. The kitchen included a microwave, a 4 burner range with oven, pots, pans, plates, cups and utensils which was nice so we didn't have to eat out every meal. Also included was a one cup coffee maker plus a full sized coffee pot with filters. There was a dish drainer, sponge and dish soap in the cabinet under the sink to wash the dishes you used . All in all, very thoughtful kitchen amenities that you hardly ever see in a more modern hotel.
There was a full bath tub with shower and the usual amenities (shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soaps) and 4 sets of towels. There isn't a maid service everyday however you can request service and/or new towels whenever you need.
The bedroom had a comfortable queen sized bed, with extra blankets and pillows in the closet, two night stands, chest of drawers and a TV. The couch folds out to a queen bed as well, but we didn't use it. The TV in the living room was fairly large and included many channels to choose from.
This place is an absolute gem; quaint and retro and obviously well-maintained. Not only was the staff friendly but the other guests were as well! The feeling I got was a sense of old school community, where neighbors are courteous and respectful and genuinely cared about one another. What you get for the price just cannot be beat anywhere on the island.
I would positively, absolutely, 100% stay here again. In fact, I'm already planning my next trip, along with some of the other guests I made friends with! Thanks again to Joaquin and his family for making this trip a wonderful, incredible experience at Villa Capri.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

The Villa Capri is a quaint and lovely motel probably constructed post World War II and located directly across the street from the Hotel del Coronado in which I was attending a conference.
They have a lovely neon sign that needs to be fixed since half of the lighting was out which always bothers me when you have such an iconic brand.
The lobby office has very limited hours in the morning and then again after 4 so if you call and don't get an answer, call back later.
Joaquin I believe is the manager and is a very nice guy. The rooms are quite large and I believe they have 14 units in this two-story, Art Deco style facility. They offer free bike rentals and they have a pool which was covered by a patio which was unusual as well.
They have a television in the living space as well as the bedroom which is nice but the TV in the bedroom was not working. The rooms themselves are old and need upgrades, but are clean and functional.
They give you plenty of towels but the overnight parking is a bit outrageous at $15 per night.
The location is stellar because you can walk to the beach and there is plenty of restaurants and places to visit in walking distance as well. The kitchen has a stove, microwave and fridge with cabinets for storage too.
If you are in Coronado and seek modest accommodations in the center of things that won't bust your budget, this is the place to stay, especially as a business traveler who wants to eat at the motel.

Thank you for the kind words Nick! All TV's on sight are working, if you have trouble in the future just give us a shout and we will be happy to assist you. Also, we no longer have a pool here at the Villa, the pool was decommissioned and the frame for the deck was built within the structure. Thank you for staying with us and we look forward to hosting you again!

We booked two rooms here a few weeks ago and had such a fun time. We got there late but Joaquin made the late check-in process super easy and convenient. He is very friendly and professional. This place is so affordable for the location, it's right across the street from Hotel del Coronado. It's a cute boutique inn. We walked everywhere around the island and they offered us free bikes. The patio area was perfect to lounge in and beach access is a short walk away (within minutes). We will definitely stay here again!

The worst hotel l have ever seen. The room l saw was claustrophobic, dark, didn't have windows. Instead of windows this room had jalousie on the slide door, so this door is the door and the window at the same time.
The square footage listed was wrong.
Problems with refunds. Rude staff who treats to call the police just when you ask to give your money back.
Would not recommend at all.
Almost all pics from owner look like taken from the internet.
"Directly opposite ocean" pictures here is a lie.
It's far away from the ocean.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello!
We are a literal 6 minute walk from the ocean, that is according to Google Maps, and you can see the water from the second floor. All the doors for every room except for those in the corner are sliding glass doors with plantation shutters. There was no problem with a refund because your party was never charged for the room to begin with and he didn't just "ask for refund", he became aggressive with the front desk associate and refused to leave the property when asked to do so. Below is the comment I left on the other review your friend left as well.

Your review helps others learn about great local businesses.
Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or employees.Had a great stay at the Villa Capri by the Sea. I traveled to San Diego for a conference at the Hotel Del Coronado. I chose the Villa Capri based on it's location directly across the street from the Del. It was so convenient, and located on Orange, which is a main street with great restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. The only thing separating the Villa Capri and the ocean, is the historic Hotel Del. You can access the ocean easily via sidewalks that lead right down to the beach.
I stayed in a small 1 bedroom suite (the honeymoon suite), which had a living room, and then a separate bedroom, bathroom, and small kitchen. It was very comfortable, and EXTREMELY CLEAN! In fact I am going to say it again--I was so impressed with the cleanliness and tidiness of the Villa Capri!! The bed was nice, the property was quiet, the air conditioning worked well, I slept great.
The Villa Capri itself is a gem of a property. Built in 1956, it retains much of it's original character, in a good way. The Innkeeper John is a great guy, super friendly, responsive, and accommodating--and a wealth of knowledge about history and happenings of Coronado island. We chatted multiple times as I was coming and going. John truly made my stay at Coronado as memorable as any stay at a hotel--and I travel a lot, and all over the world. I would definitely recommend staying here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
