GREAT EXPERIENCE
Wedge Salad
Oysters Rockefeller
Japanese A5 Waygu
7-layer carrot cake
I can now cross off enjoying an A5 Waygu steak from my bucket list. It was everything I've ever heard. I finished off the experience by using an extra sharp
In my opinion, the A5 Waygu was a step above the usual nationwide high-end steak houses. The selection of steaks will have me coming back. We ate outside during sunset when the fireplace turned on.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 9, 2023
Some cliff notes on 4 stars.
Ordered the following:
Oysters Rockefeller - not freshly chucked but still enjoyable
Bread service - this was delightful because it came with a combo jar of butter and fine olive oil - see pic
Roasted bone marrow - this was really great quality BUT served with too much vegetables etc and the 3rd half-bone was empty
A 14oz. Boneless American Wagyu New York Steak, Snake River Farms, ID | Black Grade medium rare - this was enjoyable but expected more flavor out of this description; it strikes me with much suspicion that I have yet to truly enjoy anything Wagyu served to me. Could it be that what's on the display plate is different from what ends up on my plate?
Duchesse potatoes - mashed potatoes that were ok but lacked that potato flavor
A chocolate cake - sugar load without much chocolate flavor that was taken off my bill
A vodka martini - average well vodka variety
I was seated in the bar area and didn't experience the dining room; the bar has a TV and no beer on tap - ambiance
Service had a slow start but was ok after.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 12, 2023
If you're looking to splurge on a fancy place, this is a good choice. We came here for Sunday happy hour and while what we paid for happy hour prices was probably more than I would have paid for dinner elsewhere, we have to keep in mind this is a steak house in Coronado with a rooftop patio and view.
We ordered various small plate items from the Happy Hour menu and I do have to say the mussels were simply to die for! The garlic wine sauce it came with was so good that I simply drank the sauce when I ran out of bread to soak it up. I would come back just for those mussels and would probably order 4 orders of it next time. The waygu skewers and ahi sliders were good but not extraordinarily so. I think my least favorite was the oysters ($3/oyster during HH) which I found to be kind of small (I've had $1 happy hour oysters elsewhere that were way larger than these).
The server was attentive and friendly. She checked in on us often so I have no complaints about the service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

This is my favorite steak place...it's intimate, the food is delicious and always perfectly prepared. The rib cap is amazing, as are the duchesse potatoes. They can accommodate allergies and if they have no gluten free dessert options, they'll offer you little...I forgot what they called them but tiny desserts, almost like petit fours. Worth every penny.

Beautiful, elegant, but comfortable setting with fire tables on patio. Pricey, but god happy hour daily 4-6:30 pm w/ $7 wine, $8 certain cocktails and martinis, and appetizer specials: $3 oysters, $15 mussels, sirloin skewers and flatbread. All very tasty., and really friendly service. Will definitely return!

Great experience with excellent customer service, but be prepared to spend a good amount of money. Our bill was about $1,500 for 4 people, including several cocktails (which were great!)
Comp bread was delicious, especially the pretzel rolls. I've never had butter with olive oil and it worked so perfectly.
Surf&turf appetizer was better than I expected and the thin rice cracker it came with complemented it so well.
Wagyu Rib Cap, I requested medium rare but it was more rare than I wanted. When I sent it back and it returned, it was so perfect! Wild Mexican prawns add-on (3 pcs) was cooked well, had lots of flavor, and were large in size. The chimichurri sauce was tangy with lots of flavor, which was perfect with my steak.
Lobster mashed Yukon gold potatoes were good but nothing amazing. Broccoli was underwhelming but the garlic chips on top were good. The description on the menu definitely made it sound a lot better than it actually was. Wood fired oysters Rockefeller weren't memorable, I forgot we even ordered them until I reviewed the menu to help me write this review. Caesar salads were basic with nice, large pieces of anchovy, but overall, nothing special. Oysters were just okay, some were not shucked the best.
For dessert, we shared the millionaire peanut candy bar (which we called a fancy snickers bar) and it was mediocre, I took a few bites and was done with it. I plan to return and would love to try their HH, but I will be skipping most of the items I've already tried.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 64579920Sep 26, 2023
We sat at the bar for happy hour. Got a few drinks. The service was great. And the food was soo good! We got the pork short rib, bread mix, carrot cake, steak, bone marrow and one other dish. Everything was excellent! So good. There is indoor and outdoor seating but I was hot so we sat inside in the AC. On a nice night/day I wouldn't mind sitting outside. I Ubered but looks like street parking.

This Steak house has been one of the best steak houses I have beeb to San Diego. I have been to a lot and this particular steak house definitely is the sommelier version of steaks! The 16 oz boneless ribeye literally melts in your mouth! The au gratin potatoes so oowey-gooey deliciousness of cheeses, the brussel sprouts were perfectly crisped, dressed with a basalmic reduction and tossed with shaved parmesan cheese the perfect sides to complement the steak. Awesome spot for a birthday celebration. The waiter surprised us with a decadent chocolate cake and champagne. Hands down one of the best dining experiences. Romantic ambiance, amazing service, and awesome food.

We've only been for happy hour but it was terrific. Great wine for $7 a glass and terrific bar food. Definitely recommend the 4-oz steak frites and the skiers, both beef and the!

We ended up at Stake Chophouse bc one person wanted steak and the other wanted seafood! It was a great experience and is one of the 'big deal" places - meaning great ambience, great food and great service - with prices to match. At times the service was uneven, but management stepped in before we even complained and made things right.
The caviar service was fun, with high quality caviar and yummy creme fraiche - but instead of blini or crackers, potato chips were served. Potato chips? They were a bit too salty for the caviar. I love homemade blue cheese dressing so I got the wedge salad. It was great - there was almost too much bacon...is that really a complaint? The beet salad was a surprising hit - the combo of beets, whipped cheese and nuts was refreshing. The bone marrow app was a luscious umami-filled dish. The accompanying toast was overseasoned. The diver scallop entree was as good as any seafood place and the wagyu cap was deeply flavorful - each bite screaming "beef!" in my mouth. It had the flavor depth of a ribeye with the texture of filet mignon. Oddly, the steak tartare was just meh - a bit overseasoned and the meat wasn't evenly chopped. Finally, the blueberry muffin bread pudding was to die for. We all immediately wondered why no one had made it before! The millionaire bar was fun but the chocolate cake was a bit dry. The outdoor dining was fabulous- with heat lamps and views of the Del.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0
