This place is closed for complete renovations.

I would watch to see when it reopens.

Super over priced for what you are getting, and also pretty rundown. Stayed 1 night on August 5, 2023 to attend a family wedding as our first night away from our 11-month old.

No headboard on the bed, broken blinds, no curtains, window AC unit, gross lighting, dirty, scuffs and marks on walls, poorly repaired walls from damage, peeling bathtub, scuffs on furniture, DirecTV remote buttons were broken, etc. It was very disappointing. I would have rather stayed in a motel.

They get away with this because of the locations, but def not for $300. Would have MUCH RATHER paid $450 for just a slightly better place.

The place was dirty. There was a dirty towel left in our bathroom. There was dust and hair left on the nightstand and the refrigerator. The remote was definitely not sanitized especially where it was left. A teenager came to dust our room with a hand duster what a joke. I never received a call from the manager regarding our situation. We checked out the same day we checked in. We were there only 3 hours. We were not offered another room or a refund.

      Live and learn.

      Never Again.

As a seasoned business traveler, I have stayed in every type of property imaginable. I hold the top loyalty stairs with 2 National chains and spend over 150 nights a year on the road. I only mention this to establish that I am not a novice when it comes to hotel rooms.

Aside from a dump in Sun Valley, CA and a Days Inn in Atalanta, this place ranks in my top 3 worst. I give it the second star only because of its location.

The Good: The location is ideal. Right in the middle of town and a short walk to anything you want to do in Coronado.

The Bad: I should have known that an adventure was in store from the beginning. I received a phone call the day of check in from a front desk clerk asking what time I thought I'd be checking in. I found it odd as I have never had anyone call me for arrival times. Guess I wouldn't have minded much but the woman on the phone was oddly aggressive about it. Reading song of the reviews, I can see that it must be the training they receive.

The Hotel is very old which may explain the distinct smell that lingered throughout our stay and as you can see from the photos, the building of in need of some serious TLC.

The Ugly: Once we got to our room and overcame the unique smell, we were greeted to bedding with very noticeable stains on them. As a bit of a neat/clean freak in general, even more so when it comes to hotels, this was absolutely unacceptable. I went down to have the bedding changed out and the front desk woman was shockingly also housekeeping. Obviously very put out to do more than make keys, she proceeded to explain that the sheets were clean but that they just obtained a few stains over the years. If you're like me, when one of my favorite shirts gets a stain on it, I take it out of the rotation. It becomes a workout or yard shirt. As She change the top and bottom sheets, the hole ridden middle blanket revealed itself. We decided to over look it as we were pretty much out committed at this point. Despite the unseasonably cold weather, the room was smelly and stuffy so we opened the windows and turned in the AC. The wall unit was pegged at 62 degrees but only cooled the closet area directly in front of it. The noise it made however was loud enough to completely drown out the TV which had a limited volume feature to ensure the comfort of the neighbors through the paper thin walls. Tough choice, cool room or audible TV. The AC also gave you the experience of sleeping on the LAX runway. Infrequent bouts of jet engine noise.

In conclusion, you'd be better off throwing $300 down the toilet then to stay at this property. Actually the experience would be roughly the same.

Don't book this hotel. Here is my experience. And I'm still here one more night.

This was the second worst hotel experience I've had and my wife's worst. Our door lock broke and we could not get back into our room. The front desk woman did not have the correct tool to get back in. We had to wait over an hour and a half for the manager to drive to the hotel to fix it. My wife is currently 7 months pregnant and we have a 19-month old with us. The next morning it broke again. Now, the only way we can come and go as we please is if the front desk woman is here to let us in with a master key. Horrendous.

Next, our toilet broke repeatedly. I had to personally rig it each time so it would stop running and actually flush.

Also, holes in the sheets from obvious burn marks. Sheets were stained. There is no fitted sheet on the bed. Plan to wake up on the mattress itself. Bed makes terrible squeaky noises every time there's any movement. The crib we had to rent looks like it's from goodwill and is equally squeaky.

The air conditioner/heater kind of works.

The pool is colder than the ocean.

There is no security latch on the door. I had to move the chair in front of the door and sit there so my toddler couldn't open the door.

      The lights flicker while on.

Staff have shown no sympathy whatsoever nor made any attempt to right their many wrongs.

But, it's in a good location....

      RUN, don't walk away!

We were stuck in a tiny room that is not shown on their website because we booked through Expedia. This tiny room type is also not shown on Expedia's website. Management claimed that the hotel was completely booked, and that everyone else in the hotel booked directly through them and not through a third party website. They continued to tell me that each person chose their room number in advance, so we could not be moved to another room (since we booked through a third party and didn't choose our room number ahead of time). Speaking to the front desk was like speaking to a child who you could clearly tell was lying.

I was determined to not let this tiny room ruin my trip, but the trouble didn't stop at there. The walls are paper thin, our feet and socks were stained black from the dirty floors (which were supposedly mopped multiple times), and we were woken up in the middle of the night because of a leak and asked not to flush our toilet because there was water leaking downstairs.

If you're looking at this review, you're probably considering a vacation for you and your family. Do not ruin your trip by booking a small, old and dingy room at this hotel. Spend a few extra dollars and book somewhere else.

Wouldn't recommend. Especially for the price of $275 a night, on a Tuesday (and that was with my discount on booking website). Front desk staff when checking in was very friendly and helpful and that is the only reason for 2 stars.

When we first got to room, it was dirty and everything looked very old and not taken care of. Stains on walls, bedding looked old and dust/dirt everywhere. My husband got locked in the bathroom the first 10 minutes and we had to call front desk to come get him out. We ended up not closing the bathroom door the entire time we were there cause we were worried we would get locked in again. (Front desk agent didn't seem too surprised he was locked in as if it has happened before. He even brought a tool with him like he knew how to do it ahead of time)

There were no towels provided in room at all. I had to call front desk and go get them in the morning. When I went to check out there was another guest asking for towels and the front desk agent told him he had to wait for housekeeping to get them and he couldn't give him a time when housekeeping would come. Just told him not to put don't disturb sign up or he wouldn't get any towels. He basically told him to just wait in room. Which was weird cause the agent I got towels from about 2 hours earlier went and got me some no problem right when I asked.

Also, very loud neighbors who were arguing for about 30 mins.

Glad we only had to stay for one night.

Disappointed is the least I could say. We have stayed here many times prior to 2020 and the hotel was clean and nice. I'm not sure what happened to La Avenida Inn but it was a complete mess. We purchased cleaning supplies and tried to make the best of it since our reservation was non refundable and over the July 4th weekend. Management was not helpful when I showed the dirty cleaning supplies to them. The price we paid for the room was unacceptable for the filth we stayed in.

Do not stay in this hotel. It looks fine from the outside but the inside is dirty. The pool is dirty and the manager Mosis is absolutely in the wrong business. He told me to leave if I didn't like my dirty sheets. Twice! The towels have holes in them. Actually the quality of the linen is thrift store quality. And this is Coronado?? I've stayed in 95% of the hotels here and this is BY FAR the absolute worst! One star is for location.
They called the police and said we were too noisy we are seniors who are in bed at 9! Also they entered our room while out watching a parade and locked us out!!!

We love this hotel and have been returning here for many years. Location is great and the pool & pool area are lovely. The rooms have always been a little outdated, but being able to cross the street at be at the Del beach was always worth it.

Something has changed. The service is ice cold. I believe there is new management. I get that times are tough & I can roll with a lot (no maid service, they kept running out of pool towels, never got an answer about my request for a late checkout... furniture and fixtures a little rough around the edges, etc.) but a smile and a "how was your stay?" or a "thank you" goes a long way.

We stayed the suite with the balcony. It says it sleeps 3 adults, but don't believe it. The bed was fine for 2 people, but the fold out couch is UNBEARABLE - a new mattress is needed - my 16 year old son, who can sleep anywhere, had to sleep on the floor because it was more comfortable there. I would have happily given the manager feedback in person as opposed to writing it in a yelp review ... but he didn't ask or seem to care when we checked out.
