Event Description:
On May 22, the Coronado Island Film Festival will host a special screening of Act of Valor, at the Village Theatre, 820 Orange Avenue. A pre-screening VIP reception will be held in our own Museum, where the History of Navy SEALs in Coronado is on display. Guests will enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres hosted by Tent City. Reception starts at 6:30 p.m., with a brief program at 7 p.m. to introduce honored guests, including George Galdorisi, co-author (with Dick Couch) of the novelization of the Act of Valor film. The screening at the Village Theatre is set for 8:30 p.m. Prior to the screening of Act of Valor, CIFF will present a short documentary film, U.S. Navy SEALs 50th Anniversary, produced by CHS student Kyler Smith, whose father and brother are Navy SEALs. The 17-minute film, which was Smith’s Eagle Scout Project, tracks the history of the SEALs from 1962 to 2012. Tickets are $50. Proceeds will support CIFF and CHA, with a portion donated to the Navy SEAL Foundation. Tickets may be purchased on the CHA website, www.coronadohistory.org, or in person at the CHA Museum Store. For more information contact CIFF Executive Director Doug St. Denis, coronadoislandfilmfest@gmail.com.
