Event Description:
The Coronado Historical Association’s annual Coronado Historic Home Tour will again be held on Mother’s Day—this year on Sunday, May 11, from 11 am to 4 pm. Six enchanting examples of architecture will be featured, from the classic lines of an historic English Tudor style, to a Spanish Eclectic bungalow hideaway and the hidden treasures of a traditional Mediterranean courtyard home. One of the featured homes on the tour this year was a 2014 GEM Award finalist* for its remarkable renovation. A well-known Coronado landmark at 708 A Avenue, built in 1915 and known historically as the Sherman Mansion, this stunning 5,000+ sq.-ft. home on a 28,000 sq.-ft. corner lot has just undergone a full interior remodel and expansion. Early-bird tickets purchased by April 30 are $30 for members, $35 for non-members; after April 30, tickets are $35 for members and $45 for non-members. Tickets may be purchased in advance either at the Coronado Visitor Center (operated by CHA), 1100 Orange Avenue, Coronado, or on-line at www.coronadohistory.org. For further information or to purchase tickets by phone, call 619-435-7242. *The GEM Award was created by CHA to recognize renovations that best reflect the island’s history and character. Aileen Oya, GRI, Advance Realty Coronado/Gym in Coronado is the 2014 Platinum Sponsor of the Historic Home Tour.
