Event Description:
Mary Ellen Cortellini, noted historical researcher and author of three books, will spin an intriguing tale of Coronado in days gone by during CHA’s next “Wine & Lecture” event, Friday, June 14, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at the Coronado Historical Association. Hers is a fascinating story about long-time Coronado resident, Army Surgeon William L. Kneedler, who came to Coronado after serving as Post Surgeon at Fort Rosecrans. Kneedler served the Coronado community as a doctor for many years in the early 1900s, when he and his family lived in the historic Kneedler-Morton house that he built first on Ocean Boulevard, and later moved to its present location at 10th and Adella. Mary Ellen’s lecture promises a glimpse through a window in time to a period rarely documented by historians, with charming details about family living in Coronado, the military connection that San Diego and Coronado experienced, and a house that, even today, is enjoying yet another historic restoration. This next event in CHA's on-going “Wine & Lecture Series” is free to the public. Wine will be served for a $5 donation, as well as water and iced tea. No RSVP required. Kneedler books will be available for purchase and author signings. The Lecture Hall is located at the Coronado Museum of History & Art, 1100 Orange Avenue.
